Transmission & Differential Services

Transmission Filter Service: Recommended once a year or every 20,000 miles, whichever comes first. Takes about 30 minutes.

Includes the following:

New transmission screen
New pan gasket
Transmission pan is cleaned
Transmission fluid is filled

During this service, only the fluid in your transmission pan is replaced. That's about 30% of the total transmission capacity. The other 70% of the fluid is contained in the torque converter, cooling lines and radiator. Our "Flush Service" (see below) will change 100% of the fluid. Until 1996, this service was "state-of-the-art," and available at most dealerships, fast lubes and transmission specialty shops. "Flush Services" have now become the newest method of replacing transmission fluid.

Transmission Flush Service: Recommended once a year or every 20,000 miles, whichever comes first. Takes about 30 minutes. 100% replacement of transmission fluide.

"It's like a transfusion for your transmission!"

During this service, all of the transmission fluid contained in your transmission, torque converter, cooling lines and radiator is replaced by connecting your car to a new, state-of-the-art system now in use by most auto dealerships.

Differential Service: Recommended once every two years or every 30,000 miles, whichever comes first. Takes about 15 minutes. Includes 100% replacement of differential fluid.

Radiator Flush Service

Radiator Flush Service is recommended once every two years or every 30,000 miles, whichever comes first. Takes about 30 minutes. Complete replacement of antifreeze / coolant within your car's cooling system (radiator, hoses and engine).

The acceptable range of operating temperatures for coolant is -30 F (freezing point) and 265 F (boiling point). Water alone freezes at 32 F and boils at 212 F. Without the proper 50-50 mix of coolant and water in your cooling system your car's metal parts can be damaged (too much coolant), or your car can overheat or freeze in extreme temperatures or driving conditions (when there isn't enough coolant).

During this service, all coolant contained in your cooling system is replaced by connecting your car to a Radiator Flush machine that utilizes the pressure from your engine's own water pump. This insures that your hoses and seals are not over-pressurized or damaged during the service.

When the service is completed, your car should be able to withstand the extreme temperatures we face during hot summer days and cold winter nights.

Air Filters

Your air filter performs two very important jobs for your car:

1) Protecting the engine from contaminants; and

2) Providing clean air for the engine.

Contaminants in the air can damage engine parts. The air filter traps dust, dirt and microscopic exhaust particles and keeps them from entering your engine.

For every gallon of gasoline it burns, your engine uses about 12,000 gallons of outside air. Your air filter cleans all of it. It allows enough air in to keep your engine running at peak levels and to ensure it's best performance. By leaving a dirty air filter to do the job, you're accepting lower performance, and wasted economy (lost fuel). Also, when an air filter becomes saturated with dirt, some dirt will get sucked through the filter and enter your engine. This dirt and dust is abrasive to the cylinder walls, and with each piston stroke, causes more and more damage.

Why replace a dirty air filter with a clean one?

1) Extends the life of your engine.

2) Increases gas mileage.

3) Allows easier engine starts.

4) Increases horsepower.

As a part of our Full Service, Oil Express technicians will inspect your air filter. If your filter is dirty, he will show you your filter, and advise you of the replacement cost so you can decide whether or no to have us replace it.

A clean air filter helps to improve gas mileage, provide smoother acceleration, and extend engine life. Airborne dust is the largest source of abrasives found inside engines. When your air filter gets too dirty, particles of dust are sucked through the filter, and end up inside your cylinders. As your pistons move up and down they squeeze these particles between the piston rings and cylinder walls causing scratches that lead to lost fuel economy, lost power, and oil usage. Motor oil grabs theses particles and as the oil is moved through the oil filter, it traps the dust to prevent further damage.

By changing your air filter regularly (about every 12,000 miles) you not only save fuel, but you also increase the life of your engine. When you inspect your air filter and find dirt hidden in the folds, it is time to replace the filter. Blowing out air filters, or banging them on the floor, may clean hidden dirt from the media, however it also damages the media which will lead to even more dust contamination of your engine.
